Wallifer “Wally” William Sneed
Wally became a member of the Sneed Family as a Shih Tzu pup in May 29, 2009. He was a gift from Gary Andrew Sneed’s coworker. He attended many crossroad trips to Arizona to visit extended family during his earlier years. Even as a brand-new family member, he would jump out of the car window and run across the desert. It became an unofficial family road trip tradition. It’s as if he knew that, despite the hijinx, his family would protect him from harm.
He lived his first decade of life with a fellow canine named Ares Sneed, a Golden Retriever/Chow Chow mix. Aries taught him to subdue his hyper puppy-like qualities to become a well-rounded member of the house. In other words, he went from a typical dog to a stoic, well-mannered but clever cat in a dog’s body. Wally enjoyed the outdoors so much that he would leave of his own accord to find food or play with the neighborhood girls. He was the perfect chaperone to women, girls, and anyone that exuded feminine energy that he found attractive.
When Aries passed in 2016, the mother of the household eventually adopted two new Pugs into the family, Bella and Bootsy. Despite Wally’s frustration with the hyperactivity of his new younger siblings, he grew fond of both, especially Bella. He would spend a lot of time cuddling with Bella for warmth. In the summer of 2024, he sustained a leg injury that changed the way he walked. Despite his disability, he would still gallop his way into the kitchen whenever someone was making food. Even when his eyesight started getting worse with cataract, he still found his way around the house. Even on his last day on Earth, his appetite was still massive; two meals and multiple snacks a day never filled his bottomless pit of a stomach.
There were some personality quirks that Wally had that’s always defined who he was throughout his life. He always enjoyed being princess carried. He preferred sleeping on the foot of the bed, much like his ancestors have always done. Whenever he was excited over food, he’d show off his snaggletooth; he gained the nickname Rufus the Toofus as a result. He’d create a growling/purring sound and ogle over the women, girls, and feminine people he encountered. He made a habit of crossing his paws over in a begging or petting motion when he’s belly-up, motioning his paws downward when you stop giving belly rubs.
His final years were still enjoyable for him despite the ongoing issues he’s had. One of his owners fulfilled a bucket-list goal of taking him to Wawa – a gas station that shared the same name as his nickname – where he was spoiled with chicken nuggets and fries. He loved wandering around the Wawa parking lot, failing eyesight and limbs be damned. He visited the dog park in his owner’s old apartments. The grass, soil, and occasional wind provided him timeless comforts that his current home couldn’t at times.
Wallifer “Wally” William Sneed passed away on 7:04pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. He’s lived with the Sneed family for 17 years. He will forever be missed. Fly high, Wally. Hope that crossing the Rainbow Bridge wasn’t too harsh on your ailing limbs and that the afterlife provides you as much ice cream as your heart-murmur-afflicted heart desires.
