Maggie May Wilhite

How did you find us Maggie May?  On that September evening when no one else was looking how did you know just where we would be?   You were hungry.  You were hurt.  You were neglected. But you were determined to find us… and only us.   We cleaned you up, nourished you and with heavy hearts thought it best to give you to a good home where you could thrive.  But you wouldn’t give up on us would you Maggie May?  Like a miracle, you found us again.  It was then that we knew we would never let go of our brave, beautiful angel.  So thank you Maggie May.  Thank you for enriching our lives more than you will ever know.  Thank you for your sensitive, sweet nature.  Thank you for not allowing those who hurt you to break your spirit.  Thank you for making us laugh every single day.  Thank you for deciding it was not Atty’s and Bailey’s choice to accept you… it was your choice to accept them.  So thank you little one for agreeing to be one of the “big dogs”.   Thank you for your mantra of “NEVER being hungry again!”   Thank you for greeting us with love cries, barks and with your tail-a-wagging.  Thank you for being an adventurer and for your discoveries no matter how big or how small.   Thank you for not only not catching a rabbit but not even detecting one – the irony was not lost on us.  Thank you for your incredible sense of smell – we were so jealous.  Thank you for navigating what path we should take on our walks.   Thank you for adapting no matter what the situation.   And thank you, thank you so much for your bravery during all of our trips to the hospital, the surgeries, the treatments, the meds etc…   You never changed Maggie May.  You were a marvel to watch and we learned so much from you.  Thank you for feeling the love we gave you.   And more than anything else thank you for finding us on that September day and giving us a chance to know you, care for you, love you.   For that we are eternally grateful to our brave, beautiful angel.   The gate is open Maggie May so “you get going” and run like the wind!  The big dogs are waiting! Until that wonderful day when you find us once again -Love and kisses forever – Mommy and Daddy
